Dr. Linda R. Hope, Principal

Welcome to a New School Year!

I am so pleased to begin my sixth year as the principal of Pleasant Valley Elementary.  I am so proud of my students and teachers and all of their accomplishments.  We began the year with porch visits to many of our families.  It was exciting to see the enthusiasm for school in the eyes of our youth!

We have many exciting opportunities for our students this year.  The $150,000 Technology Rich Classroom Grant has begun in force with over $75,000 of equipment already purchased for 4th and 5th grade classrooms.  All grade levels are implementing a new reading series which is an exciting time for the Wichita School District.  Pleasant Valley's walking trail, funded by the Sunflower Foundation and our Comprehensive School Health Grant, will be completed in the next few weeks making our playground area a great asset for the community as well as the school.  Pleasant Valley has been given $25,000 to purchase new books and materials for our library.  We are very excited about the opportunity to provide a significant upgrade to our library this year.

Pleasant Valley faces some challenges with our enrollment up over 11% from last year at this time.  With the help of all teachers, parents, and students, we will meet the challenges that larger class sizes bring.  Hopefully, we will get some additional assistance to reduce class sizes this fall.

If you ever have questions or concerns that I can answer, feel free to call the office (973-5200). Best wishes for an outstanding school year!
